Privacy Policy

reConnect (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Marc Atwood, a sole proprietorship. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it’s used, and your choices. Questions or requests can be sent to marc.atwood@gmail.com.

What reConnect is

reConnect is a private app built for one specific couple — it is not a public product with open registration, advertising, or a general user base. Each partner has their own passcode and their own private responses; the app’s entire design is built around never showing one partner’s “no” answer to the other, only the safe overlap between what both partners are each comfortable with.

Information we collect

  • Name and a nickname you choose for your partner
  • Phone number, used solely to send text message notifications (see below)
  • A passcode, stored only as a one-way hash — never in plain text
  • Sex (optional), used only to filter which content is shown to you
  • Your responses across the app’s content areas (activities, positions, discussion topics, the intro checklist, vocabulary preferences)
  • Any evenings, ideas, or messages you and your partner create together in the app
  • Basic device/session identifiers used to keep you signed in

How information is used

Your information is used exclusively to operate the app for you and your partner: computing shared matches, storing what you and your partner create together, authenticating you, and sending the text notifications described below. We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not run third-party analytics or crash reporting on any screen that touches your responses. Data is stored in a managed cloud database (Neon), accessible only to the app and its operator.

Text message (SMS) notifications

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive text messages from reConnect, sent via our messaging provider, Twilio. These messages are limited to account-related notifications: a new match, a new message from your partner, an Encounter being proposed or accepted, and an occasional reminder if you haven’t opened the app in a while. Message bodies never contain the actual content of a match, message, or activity — only a generic prompt to open the app.

Message frequency varies based on your and your partner’s activity in the app. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP at any time to opt out of text messages, or HELP for help.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Data retention and deletion

Because reConnect is built for a single couple rather than the general public, there is no self-service account deletion flow today. To request that your data be deleted or corrected, contact marc.atwood@gmail.com.

Children’s privacy

reConnect is intended for adults only and is not directed at, or knowingly used by, children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new “last updated” date.
